elementarhy GmbH is an innovative greentech start-up founded to transform the green hydrogen economy. We specialise in the development, production, and recycling of Membrane Electrode Assemblies (MEAs)—the critical core component for electrolysers. Our goal is to make the production of green hydrogen cost-efficient and sustainably scalable.
Our origins lie in fundamental scientific research dating back to 2013. elementarhy was founded in the midst of the European energy crisis. This period highlighted the urgent need for energy security and cost efficiency in our transition to renewable energy. Based on validated research in cooperation with top institutions like the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) and the Leibniz Institute (INP), we took the step from the laboratory to industry.
Elementarhy tackles one of the biggest problems in hydrogen scaling today: high costs and an extreme dependency on scarce, expensive precious metals like iridium. We use a revolutionary, patented plasma technology (PVD) for the coating process.
What makes us unique:
• Extreme Raw Material Savings: Our technology requires up to 20 times less iridium than conventional methods. This solves the material bottleneck and drastically reduces costs.
• Sustainable & Future-Proof: Our MEAs are PFAS-free and fully recyclable.
• Performance: We offer “plug-and-play” solutions that feature guaranteed performance and high durability (tested >6,000 hours) thanks to 100% end-of-line testing.
• Scalable & Clean Process: Our PVD process is more scalable, cost-efficient, and environmentally friendly than conventional methods, eliminating the need for binders and organic solvents.
