BalticNet-PlasmaTec (BNPT)


is an international cluster – located in Greifswald, Germany – that stands for a technology and market-oriented cooperation of science, research and economics in the field of plasma technology. As one of the most important plasma technology clusters in Northern Europe, BNPT’s aim is to support our members in different activities fields. BNPT is a contact partner for interested parties who intend to expand their own technical and economic potential in using plasma technology.

The main activities of the cluster focusing on:


  • Building consortia of entrepreneurs, scientific and research units, administration and investors for common projects
  • Establishing, developing and maintaining strong cooperative relationships between entities in the plasma technology field
  • Developing cooperation between enterprises and scientific research institutions in the field of R&D&I
  • Striving to provide cluster members with optimal conditions for increasing efficiency and innovation, as well as facilitating adaptation to rapidly changing and diversified market requirements
  • Assistance for companies to enter foreign markets (Internationalisation)
  • Promoting cluster activities as an innovative strategy for social and economic development
  • Defining and managing of joint projects and participating in international calls
  • Acquiring funding
  • Organising exchange of university lecturer, students and employees
  • Organising workshops, congresses, joint fair participation and web meetings to present new procedures and products (technology marketing)

Go cluster

Since 2008 BalticNet-PlasmaTec was a member of the initiative Kompetenznetze.Deutschland and since 2013 BNPT belongs to the “Go-cluster” initiative of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology Germany.


Silver label

In 2015, BNPT received the Silver Label of Cluster Management Quality awarded by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA). We will be renewing the certification in 2022.


Cluster environment

Plasma technology is a key-enabling- and cross‐sectional technology with a high potential for innovation and added value and to create new value chains. Especially during the last years, the number and impact of possible applications of plasma technology has grown immensely.
