In the South Baltic Region, small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are vital to economic growth, but they face a significant challenge: internationalization. Despite their potential, only 34% engage in international business. This underrepresentation is not due to a lack of capacity but the complexities and hurdles of international expansions, such as financial constraints, insufficient market intelligence, and complex legal frameworks.
SMEBeyond is a cross-border and strategic initiative designed to change this landscape. Its main objective is to empower SMEs in the South Baltic Region in the thematic areas of renewable energy, sustainable urban development, water and waste management, food packaging, plasma technology, and maritime with the necessary tools, insights, and support for successful international ventures.
The project aims to shift the current paradigm, increasing the number of SMEs engaging in international business, thereby enhancing regional economic vitality and global competitiveness. Additionally, the project strives to create more networks between South Baltic clusters and partners to gain knowledge from each other.
The project is co-financed by Interreg South Baltic with funds from the European Regional Development Fund. Read more about Interreg here
BalticNet-PlasmaTec is a partner in the project, which will run for three years.
