The network BalticNet-PlasmaTec is a contact partner for interested parties who wants to use technical and economic expert's assessments for own uses of the plasma technology in the Baltic Sea Region. Besides, the network support existing and initiate new cooperation’s between universities, the industry, small and medium-sized companies, public facilities and other important people from the field of the plasma technology. BalticNet-PlasmaTec has sat down as an aim to raise the perception of the plasma technology in the society. For this the network takes over coordinating duties by the realisation of common, in particular cross-bordering activities. BalticNet-PlasmaTec is a platform for the cooperation between the academic world, public facilities, private companies and individuals.

Special main focus of the professional work is the combination of different departments, as for example the combination of plasma physics with Life Sciences in the working focus PlasmaplusBio or the application of plasma technologies in the environment protection in the working focus PlasmaplusEnvironment..

The BalticNet-PlasmaTec as an international network targeted in the long term to support the employment creation. This should be realised by development of new business segments, spin-offs and an intensive common marketing. Moreover, a rise of the competitiveness both of existing and new products, services and procedures should be reached by the development of new markets and introduction of new manufacturing technologies. In long term the BalticNet-PlasmaTec should become the contact partner for small and medium-sized companies with plasma-technological problems in the north of Germany.

The first big step in this direction occurred through the admission to Kompetenznetze Deutschland, which is known as "club of the best innovation networks" in Germany.
