Szczecin University of Technology (SUT) was established in 1946.
It consists of six faculties:

- Faculty of Civil Engineering and Architecture,
- Faculty of Chemical Engineering,
- Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology,
- Faculty of Electrical Engineering,
- Faculty of Mechanical Engineering,
- Faculty of Maritime Technology.
Currently, there are over 11 500 students who study 20 programmes.
Scientific staff of SUT are 739 people, including 145 professors. All faculties of the University have the authority to promote doctoral degrees in several disciplines.

SUT implements a lot of projects financed from different sources, e.g. grants. Many initiatives were sponsored by the Ministry of Scientific Research and Information Technology. There have also been EU grants and activities with private companies.
The university has bilateral agreements on scientific cooperation with 20 foreign universities and is involved in many programmes:
- Socrates/Erasmus and Minerva,
- Leonardo da Vinci,
- Culture 2000,
- Eureka,
- Phare CBC,
- 5th and 6th Framework Programme.
