Roth & Rau belongs to the leading suppliers of PECVD equipment for deposition of amorphous hydrogenated silicon nitride as passivation and anti-reflective coatings for crystalline silicon solar cells. Further products are plasma etching systems for edge isolation and other dry etching application in photovoltaics and plasma process equipment for research & development. Together with partners from R&D and industry Roth & Rau offers a common concept for fully automated and cost-efficient solar cell manufacturing lines (ASCM Advanced Solar Cell Manufacturing). The key of the concept is the transfer of a novel cell technology with an efficiency potential of 16% on multicrystalline material which has been developed in the ECN, the Netherlands Energy Research Centre. Basing on long-term experience and a comprehensive process know how, Roth & Rau provides components like plasma sources and ion beam sources as well as process systems for plasma and ion beam enhanced thin film and surface processing for use in many industrial branches in which mainly systems particularly on special applications are offered.
